How I can get a new laptop to recognize a portable hard drive age?

I need to use a hard disk with Windows XP on an old laptop a new laptop. The new laptop does not recognize the hard drive of the laptop age. How I get the laptop to recognize the old laptop hard drive? The hard disk of the new phones do not work correctly if you use the hard drive from an old laptop which has Windows XP installed on it (drivers are not a problem.) Work on the hard drive and must enroll in an old notebook.

Connect the wires from the laptop old hard disk. If you do, or cables will not fit, you are lucky as far as I know.
